This weekend, Sue and I watched the last X-men movie and we still feel that it was a big mess that looks like someone badly stitched two movies into one. But it had some absolutely beautiful moments, like when Angel spreads his wings for the first time and flies away while an imprisonned mutant boy looks on with yearning. And the feeling of peace on Jean Grey's face as she dies...
After that, we started our DVD set of Columbo's 5th season and what a surprise it was! We had never seen the first episode, Forgotten Lady, in which Janet Leigh is a once-star of movie musicals who can't give up on her past glories and her friend, played by John Payne (of Miracle on 34th Street fame), can only stand there and watch. Great ending, with Columbo showing even more of his great compassion.
