To me, Star Trek's episode The Corbomite Manoeuver is the epitome of what the whole thing was about.
In that story, humans venture into the Unknown, where they encounter something that threatens them, but they do not give up on their best qualities to overcome the threat. In fact, some of them come out of it stronger.
And yes, that does have everything to do with what America did on November 4. I had feared that it would give up on its last values.
It didn't.
It made me proud.
