"the dream hunters"
Nov. 30th, 2008 01:57 pmHe did not know that the fox had violently fallen in love with him when she came to tell him she was sorry…
…or perhaps before when he had picked her up from the muddy courtyard and taken her inside to dry herself by the fire.
But whenever it happened, it was unquestionably true that the fox was in love with the young monk.
And that was the cause of much misery in the time to come…
…much misery and heartbreak…
…and of a strange journey.
Artist Craig Russell has taken on the task of adapting Neil Gaiman’s novella The Dream Hunters into a 4-issue comic book. To say the least, it is a pleasure to read and to look at. It also reminds me of 1976. That’s when I first discovered Russell in that issue of Killraven where his art, combined with Don McGregor’s words, told a lyrical tale of their encounter with a Martian-bred butterfly-woman. I miss comics that heavily combine art and word.
