one ring

Yesterday morning ws a reminder that there is honesty left in this world.

I had taken my wife in for some minor surgery and she gave me her wedding band for safe-keeping because I was less likely to misplace it than she was. Of course, I misplaced it, and only noticed a couple of hours later. I frantically looked everywhere I'd been at the clinic while I'd been waiting for the procedure to be over, without success. When I went back to the front desk and asked if a ring might have been found, yes, it had. Outside the building.

Interestingly, my wife wasn't upset. Sure, had the ring been lost, I'd have gotten her another one, but I pointed out that it wouldn't have been the one I had given her more than 23 years ago.

She has been known to call me a sentimental fool.

I think she means that in a good way.

She's the Queen, right? So the Royal Fool is the only one who can laugh at the Queen and live. Right?

And then Agatha is the Mad Scientist up in the tower, so you're well on your way to a full Steampunk Paradise.

All that's missing are goggles to go with my Victorian Time Traveler's outfit. I never acquired any because I wear glasses, and putting goggles over them just would not be an awe-inspiring. That may soon change, as a friend in the same optic situation recently told me of someone who makes goggles that can fit over one's eyeware.

As for Agatha, she keeps running out of the tower. When she did that today, some time before supper, I went out and said 'manger' a few times. I didn't say it that loudly, but, before you know it, the Genius was running to me from the other end of our domain.

How about the specialty goggles that have the built-in corrective lenses?

Or perhaps a nice pair of Laser Safety Goggles, just the thing for every Mad Scientist and Evil Assistant, eh?

Ooooh. Those laser goggles do look awesome. As for putting corrective glasses on a goggle frame, I considered it, but lenses aren't exactly cheap, and I'd get to wear them only once or twice a year. Instead I've been thinking of getting a pair of old-style glasses, aka the John Lennon kind. I could wear them in a 'normal' context, and they'd go well with my steampunk outfit.

There ya go. Then you can also add "looking over your glasses" at the person in front of you; very handy for those times when you need Mild Correction. ;-)

I wonder if the glasses could be used to also convey Stern Remonstrance then, one more level up, Harsh Rebuke.

Yes, but -- only with the proper lenses. Corrective lenses.
