“Les aventures extraordinaires d’Adele Blanc-Sec” is based on Jacques Tardi’s graphic novels about Adèle Blanc-Sec, an investigator in Paris early in the 20th Century. Since it's set in 1911, one can't call it steampunk, or bustlepunk. It's too early for it to be dieselpunk, and one could be tempted to call it edwardianpunk, except that France most likely wouldn't care for the label, as it honors their neighbor across the Channel.

How about LaBelleEpoquePunk?

That being said... I’ll have to finally acquire the novels next time I go to Québec City. As for the film… It came out in early April, but I haven’t heard of any American release. Not that surprising, come to think of it. They’d have to either dub it, or go the subtitle route. That’s two strikes against it, for most people. I’ll be quite happy if I’m wrong.
