after 3.5 hours of sleep, a triumph

We had a database problem last night so I had to stay up until 2:30am. I woke up at 6am and, not long after that was hit by another problem - this one caused by a user having entered screwy data. I thought I'd have to wait until the end of the ongoing processing to implement my potentially lengthy solution, so I cleaned the house and ran errands while trying to stay awake. Then something occurred to me and less than 30 minutes later I had fixed the problem.

This is the kind of situation that reminds me I'm not stupid.

Now that I'm done with work-related problems, I should probably finally set up our HiDef TV, but the recent sleep deficit tells me I'm not up to correctly hooking up the TV, the DVD player and the DVR. I think I'll instead go uproot the backyard's dead tree.

branching off

My plans re the backyard's dead tree were cut short when, after completely branching off, I realized that explosives would be needed to extricate the remnants from the hardpacked stuff that New Mexicans generously call 'soil'. I think I'll go for something a tad less spectacular - like a chainsaw to cut the whole thing at ground level. A trip to a rental place will resolve the situation at its roots.
