I spent a lot of time throughout the weekend with the setup of "the broomstitch", my DreamWidth blog. Whatever I'll post there, I'll also post "from inside the tube", especially since DW doesn't have photo galleries, but DW will be my primary place. As for my blog's name... I originally wanted to give it my LJ's name, but my life circumstances are different now from what they were more than 5 years ago, and a symbol of that change was better indicated and... ("...we'll still get the same bad puns, right?") I heard that. As I was about to say... I considered a few candidates, one of which pretty much was the favorite of my friend Anne. Alas, I then discovered that it was already taken. I thought of calling it "A More Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy", but that would have been a mouthful. I finally arrived at "the broomstitch", which contains a clue to my real name. Anyway. My DW looks close to what I want, which makes up for the lengthy setup that prevented me from working on my "Steampunk and Hollywood" update. That's probably why I dreamed that I was at a big event for the re-release of a steampunk movie starring Kirk Douglas as a scientist and found myself talking to Mel Brooks. That last bit woke me up fast.

"...He was one of the first Hollywood celebrities to declare his support for the gay rights movement, in his Playboy interview from January 1969. He further stated that he would have no problem playing gay characters on screen, since he was secure with his own sexual orientation...."

I found this on imdb.com about Lee Marvin. That, and other things listed in his bio, confirmed why I liked him, along with his friend Robert Ryan.
