the wish wished for an granted
Jul. 27th, 2012 08:01 amI have finally been granted my wish.
("Which is to look and sound like Gregory Peck when he played Captain Hornblower?")
No, although my wish had been of a naval nature. Writer John Hemry, upon reading the description of what I do at the office, said that I essentially if not officially was what the Navy calls a Chief. On Wednesday, which coinciddentally was the first day of my 18th year at this job, my new boss told me that he was restructuring our team into three subteams. One of them, responsible for the system's support, would be mine, making my actual job into an official one. Not only that, but I'd have three people working for me. This is my chance to show what I've known for a long time, that I *can* lead. I won't be referred to as a Chief, but that's what I'll be. Unlike Chief Sharkey though, I won't have to deal with alien lobstermen, Blackbeard's Ghost, angry guntoting clowns, giant goldfishmen, or a Captain who turns into a werewolf whenever he get too close to a radioactive source.
