I'm A-41.

That's my boarding rank for tomorrow's flight to the Bay Area. Also flying in this week, but from the East Coast, will be my boss and my henchboss, with the latter to give us our midyear reviews. That should work out OK. The important thing is that it gives me the chance to meet with two dear friends, one of whom shows up in the Bay Area only every three years.

My carryon is ready. It's got everything I need. Mind you, if it can't fit in my carryon, I don't need it.

I just finished Beth Bernobich's fantasy novel "Queen's Hunt" and I'm looking forward to "Allegiance", her third novel, out at the end of October. I have also cast my vote for the Hugos and, by the way, why isn't there a voting category for the best pro zine? What's next on the day's agenda? I'll probably reread a couple of tales from the collection "Ravens in the Library". After that... I most likely won't have time to read James SA Corey's SF novel "Abaddon's Gate" today, but it's on my Nook, which I'm bringing to keep me company on lonely nights during this week's business trip to the Bay Area. I will at last find out which horrible fate my tuckerized self meets in Corey's novel.
