It is my understanding that, last week, the organizers of the upcoming worldcon were bemoaning the lack of volunteers. That's rather strange. A friend and I both volunteered months ago and neither of us ever heard a single thing back.

Yes, we always are. It's an axiom (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sethb that Worldcons always need six additional months to plan, but they need those six months when they are 30 days out.

By the way, I'd like to thank you and every living worldcon organizers for spending all that time to throw those big parties. You probably hear criticism more often tham praise, just like the organizers of any kind of party. Me, I first met my wife thanks to woldcons.

Me, too. I was posting flyers for a San Francisco in '93 bid party when I met my future wife (pictured with me in the icon) in the halls of OryCon in Portland.
