Found yesterday in Salon.com, a quote by Manuel Miranda, former aide to Bill Frist, and his opposition to the nomination of Sotomayor to the Supreme Court:

"She has a temper," Miranda said this afternoon after a Heritage Foundation event. "She has an attitude. She could come across as hubristic in the hearings, as arrogant. And so she could Bork herself."

Ah-hah hah haaaa! Sure, when a man is full of attitude, has a temper, and knows he's smart, that's no problem at all! But just let a woman show those all-too-human qualities and alluva sudden it's horrible!

Can you believe it? Tom Tancredo claiming she's a racist? O, will wonders never cease?

I don't know about you, but, when the GOP decries racism, I find myself doubting their sincerity.

No, not that!

As I keep thinking, when I see all these white guys who have suddenly discovered racism -- racism! in this house! -- first, they're desperate. You can smell it. The shifty look in their eyes gives it away. They are out of power and boy howdy, are they afraid. Secondly, there's nothing like hypocrisy for the Republicans; it's practically their true name any more.

We need to keep on pointing and laughing. It's the only way to drive them out.

Except that, if laughter and derision could destroy those who speak either, Fox News would have gone off the air a long time ago.

As for Sotomayor, should that harridan, that shrew, make it to the Supreme Court, it is a relief to know that there will be kind souls on the Bench who can counter her meanness - Scalia, for example.

The Republicans are currently working hard on painting themselves into a corner.

Should we be so lucky, the GOP will try to extricate itself from that situation in a way that would make Wile E. Coyote proud.

That would be National Review's The Corner (http://corner.nationalreview.com/). (Caution: misogyny and xenophobia abound there.)

That's not a site I read regularly. I do read Michelle Malkin on a regular basis, and her comment threads are truly amazing.
