Tonight on TNT is the beginning of a new season of Leverage, where Timothy Hutton and his Merry Companions live on the edge of the Law as they even the scales of Life in favor of people without power.

There isn't anybody in the cast that I don't like. The computer guy will be heard griping, while on a stakeout, how the closest internet connection was so bad that it took him two hours to download the latest episode of Doctor Who. I must say that I am partial to crazy girl Parker, and to chef-cum-legbreaker Spencer.

Eliot Spencer: He tried to kill us!
Parker: More importantly, he didn't pay us!
Eliot Spencer: How is THAT more important?

Nathan Ford: Did you just kill a guy with an appetizer?
Eliot Spencer: I dunno. Maybe.

I've been told that the series is a spiritual heir to Robert B Parker, a likely possibility what with names like 'Parker' and 'Spencer'. Which Parker novel would you recommend to a fan of this TV series?



UPDATE: it premieres tomorrow evening, not tonight. Bah humbug.

I'm not a Parker aficionado, but from what I've read about the series, the consensus seems to be that he's been mailing it in for the past few years.

I didn't like it last year, but I'm giving it another try this year, as well as the premiere of Dark Blue.

I hope you like it better this time around. Me, I loved it from the very beginning. Some things click, some don't. Me, I never was able to get into Buffy, for some reason. Either it pushed my I-do-not-like buttons. Or it didn't push my I-like buttons.
