One week from now, at this time, I'll be waking up in the house where I grew up, near Québec City. Two weeks from now, at this time, I'll be waking up at the worldcon hotel, the Delta Centre-Ville, in Montréal. Hopefully I'll be seeing you then. In Montréal, I mean. My email address is sergeunderscoreLJatcomcastdotnet. Also, remember that there will also be Kathryn from Sunnyvale's Making Lumière party on the evening of Friday, August 7.

How are you getting from Québec City to Montréal? VIA Rail employees started their strike today. I guess it could be a good thing that I'm not going, since I would have taken the train (I could go, but I decided the money should be spent on other things).

Have fun!

Wha?! Not going? I'm sorry to hear that.

As for how I'll be going around... After landing at the Dorval Airport(1), I'll hop into a rental car, drive east to Quebec City, spend about a week there, drive back to the airport on the worldcon's first day, return the car, take a shuttle bus to my hotel, after which the good times will roll and don't you really wish you were there?

----------

(1) I know, I know... It's really the Pierre Elliot Trudeau Airport now, but Dorval it remains to me. Nothing against PET, mind you.

Around here we have an airport most people call "National."

I do have the time, money and my husband's blessing to go, and the strike is ending today. There are enough interesting sessions and people to make it worth attending. And yet... we have house repairs to do that I expect will take up more money than anticipated, plus we have two grandmothers experiencing significant health problems (although they seem to be doing better at the moment), one of whom lives on the West Coast. We'll probably take a trip out there to visit his family for the first time in quite a while.

I suppose I'm not 100% decided against Worldcon, but I think I'm at 99% and it will be a last-minute thing should I decide to go after all.

All of those are of a higher priority. Let's hope we do meet one day.
