sergebroom | downunder and bachelorhood

I took my wife to the airport this morning and by now she and a friend are somewhere over the Pacific Ocean, on their way to Sidney, Australia(1). They'll be staying there for a bit over a week, and she'll be back here on November 10.

This means that, until then, I'm a bachelor.

My first act as a bachelor was to stop by the comics store, where I acquired an Abe Sapien one-shot, and the latest issue of Fantastic Four. I then went to the local dump, where I finally got rid of a big heap of tree branches that I had piled up near the shed over two weeks ago. I folded and put away some laundry. I did some research for my steampunk-movie talk, finding photos for some films, and watching Wild Wild West's episode "The Night of the Steel-plated Killer"(2).

And I put up all of our Christmas decorations(3).

(3) Except for the Tree, but it'll go up in a couple of days. For one thing, I need new strands of lights. Of those that remained after today's decoration campaign, half are dead, and what's left isn't enough for the proper adornment of our 14-year-old Tree.
