socks and success

sergebroomI took the day off today because, early tomorrow, we'll be driving to the Bay Area. My own packing was completed hours ago, but my wife's, not so much. I took advantage of the free time to take care of the clutter in my clothes's closet. For example, where there once was a pêle-mêle heap of underwear and socks, some of them orphans (the socks, not the undies), there is now free space and order, thanks to my having the idea of hanging bags to the shelves: one for undies, one for pairs of pale socks, one for pairs of dark socks, and one for socks that are either orphans or holey.
Right now I am basking in the glow of professional success. There are lots of little things I do for our team that nobody knows about. One of them - my manually saving files into an archive directory - is something that they are now definitely aware of. They thought there were no backups for some of those files, and that would have been very problematic for one of their big projects. This kind of notoriety shouldn't hurt me, what with my yearly review coming up in a couple of months.
