the best declaration
Jan. 12th, 2007 12:00 pmIf someone asked you what you think was the best declaration of love in a movie, what would you come up with?
One of my favorites was in 1976's Robin and Marian, with Sean Connery as an older Robin, and Audrey Hepburn as Marian, who loved Robin so much that, when he left for the Crusades years before, she tried to commit suicide. Near the end of the movie, there is a scene where Robin and the Sherriff (played by Robert Shaw) agree to settle things once and for all in a duel. The night before, Marian, despairing that she will lose Robin again, goes to Little John (played by Nicol Williamson), hoping that he'll convince Robin to call the whole thing off, but he can't. She then says that he never liked her, that she always came between him and Robin. He simply looks at her and says:
"If you had been mine, I would never have left you."
