sergebroom: (Coyote)

I've been living in Albuquerque for almost 10 years, during which we've had coyotes, roadrunners, and cotton-tailed grey rabbits show up in our backyard. This morning at 4:30am, for the first time in that decade, I saw coyotes run across one of the nearby mainstreets, quickly in and out of my minivan's lights. That took me back 21 years, to January 1989, when my wife and I left Toronto to go live in the Bay Area, and the same thing happened somewhere along I-80.

Was he chasing a jackalope?

Nah. More likely, they were on their way back to the nearby wilderness, now that the town was starting to wake up.

You do keep Agatha the Cat Genius inside?

Last place we lived had documented episodes of cat/coyote interaction, never to the good of the cat.

We try to keep her in, but she's quite the escape artist. There was a time a few weeks ago when the cat/coyote interaction was a very close call, but that hasn't deterred her from sneaking past us to go outside. We may call her the Cat Genius, but a genius she isn't.
