Is it an evolutionary advantage or disadvantage for your job to be more than 'just a job'?

Some jobs almost have to be, due to the nature of the job and the way we have demand set up for it. Doctors and nurses have to be available at all hours, religious leaders get called to family emergencies with little or no notice, police must be around always because criminals will be around always, and of course there's parenting.

True. Sometimes though, when appreciation by others is scarce, one will wonder if it's something that'll simply result in one's destruction.

That being said, wish me luck with my upcoming yearly review in mid-March. I'd very much like to be proven wrong about what I said above.

Evolutionary disadvantage, certainly, if you (or your mate) is too busy with their "more than 'just a job'," job to procreate...at least it is for passing along your genome...

Hoping your review is wonderful and acknowledges your contributions fairly. I know I'm worried about mine later this Spring.

Heheheh... Thanks. My fingers have been crossed for a long time, and my knuckles are starting to hurt.

My best wishes to you.
