I just submitted my Hugo nominees for 2009. I guess I do read more short-length fiction these days. I've already got some nominees for 2010, some of which would have appeared on this year's ballot if the actual date of publication were the criteria instead of the cover date.

Drat. I didn't know what the book would be called for the 2009 period so I checked on the various trade paperbacks and looked up their publishing date. I had forgotten that the criteria is the date of first appearance. I should be embarassed, but I blame the recent sleep deprivation. Oh, heck. I am embarassed.

Well, I particularly know book 8 won last year because it's my Hugo-winning report for bookgroup next month. I've read all the Hugo-winning novels except three that I would not be able to read, and Rainbow's End, which two of our guys are doing. So I asked to do this and it was okay.

I'm pretty sure they don't have enough comics for book 9 yet.

A group of usually 14 people are each giving a report on a Hugo-winning novel/graphic novel in two hours. Less than 10 minutes for each, so I wrote a summary and will pass the book around (asking them to be careful with it) while I speak.
