The other day, we got NetFlix's first DVD of the first season of "The Invaders"(*). Last night I watched episodes "Beachhead" and "The Experiment". Nowadays, the idea that aliens other than Canadians are hiding among us and plotting to take over isn't exactly a novel idea anymore. But, if I put myself in the frame of mind of when I first watched the show, it's still enjoyable. It begs one question though.

Why don't the Invaders simply bump off architect David Vincent?

For one thing, he's not part of a govt organization like the FBI. For another, the aliens seem to have no compunction about killing people who associate themselves too closely with him?

Hmmm... Maybe they decided they'd have fun with one single human, and their cunning plan is to have the police wonder why this Vincent guy leaves off such a trail of corpses behind him.

(*) "In color!" they'd then proudly add. Yeah, I'm old enough to remember when color TV sets weren't the norm. Now you kids get off my lawn!

We had black-and-white TV my whole childhood (well, once my parents broke down and bought a set at all). I was astonished when I finally learned that Sam the Eagle was blue and not yellow, as I had always envisioned him.

How could you have thought that America's avian symbol could be a cowardly yellow instead of the courageous True Blue?

That particular shade of gray looked yellow to me. Besides, he's a bird. Everyone knows that birds are yellow.

True in the case of Tweety, but what of the Chickenhawk, Foghorn Leghorn, and the Road Runner?

Details, details.

Big Bird is yellow, too.
