I once met George Takei.
Takei worked with Leonard Nimoy.
Nimoy was in Philip Kaufman's Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
Kaufman directed The Right Stuff, in which Fred Ward played Gus Grissom.
Ward was in Tremors with Kevin Bacon.
Bacon was in The River Wild, opposite David Strathairn.

From him, we get to, among others, Kevin Kline, Russell Crowe, George Clooney, and from them to...

Why David Strathairn?

Well, he's one of those actors who's been around for a long time, doing his job, then suddenly he gets to play a role that finally gets him really noticed. Before Good Night and Good Luck, he was the Duke in Midsummer Night's Dream, and the porn producer in L.A.Confidential.

Ah. I see. I haven't seen any of those films, alas.

I sang in choir with Steve Lively who was in Mr. Saturday Night with Richard Kind who was in Queens Logic with Kevin Bacon who (as you note above) was in The River Wild with David Strathairn. I have a Strathairn # of 4 :-)

I also met George Takei - he did a book signing at the Waldenbooks in Bakersfield when his autobiography came out, but I looked for a shorter connection.

and re Right Stuff, I was raised on Edwards where Chuck Yeager flew and have met Chuck Yeager. He worked some with my dad when Northrop was trying to launch the Tigershark.

Yeager himself? I am suitably impressed.

From me to you to Yeager, who was at the 1983 worldcon in Baltimore, on a panel that included Dennis Quaid, Scott Glen, and Gordo Cooper. The latter leads me to John Glenn.
