the new base
Aug. 1st, 2010 08:29 amOne of the things I admire about the MythBusters is how they adapt things from their original purpose to something quite unlike what was originally intended - for example, building a cannon out of duct tape.
While I didn't build a device to ballistically send out objects yesterday, I finally took care of our mailbox, which also sends objects out. A few months ago, it was accidentally knocked off its steel pipe by someone who shall remain nameless. I managed to jury-rigg something, but the mailbox kept tilting when not falling right off the pipe. Earlier this week, I went to the nearby big-box hardware store looking for a way to fix this. After some deliberations, I acquired a can of black paint, a PVC pipe and a shower-drain funnel. Yesterday, I slid the the whole bolted-and-painted assemblage right over the steel pipe and its concrete base.
