most definitely not his mysterious island
Aug. 17th, 2010 06:53 amLast night, I came to the conclusion that watching 2005's "Jules Verne's Mysterious Island" would be a waste of electricity, and that keeping it on our DVR would be a waste of memory. I had missed the first 50 minutes, which is why I came into the story when Gabrielle Anwar knocks out a giant mosquito. Not that surprising a feat if you consider her character on "Burn Notice". Still, after a few pirates armed with cutlasses and flintlocks during the American Civil War, after a few giant creatures that Nemo tells the castaways were made big by a local mysterious element's radioactivity and nobody says "radiowhat?", and after finally seeing that the Nautilus looked like a U-Boat in 19th-Century drag, I decided that even Anwar wasn't enough to keep me watching. Which says a lot about how sucky the whole thing was.
