"Insufficient facts always invite danger, Captain."
- Mister Spock to Captain Kirk.

Speaking of endeavors where one must get the facts straight, I just finished going thru all of Sue's writing expenses and income for last year. As soon as my employer provides some missing forms re my own income, I'm passing the whole thing over to our tax consultant.

That's one of the less fun jobs. I have to get my taxes done soon. My wife, who works for the IRS, will probably run everything through TurboTax.

I used to do my taxes all by myself. Then the Republicans passed the "Tax Payer Relief Act" and it took me a whole day, and a lot of brain strain, to do what used to take 5 minutes, all this to save $4. I'd have eventually switched to a tax consultant when we bought a house, but... Let's put it this way. When a Republican says he's doing something that's going to be good for me, I look before sitting down, in case there's a dagger planted in the middle of the chair, blade upward.

That sounds like a sensible approach! Right now, we're focused on moving, which takes place finally on Saturday.

Thanks. Right now I'm pricing bookcases, since I need new ones. I'm thinking steel frames painted to look like wood.

Library Thing (http://www.librarything.com) has a pretty active "Bookcases" group, fledgist. Might be worth browsing (you don't have to be a member) if you're looking for real-world ideas (as opposed to the bookcase porn you can find in places like Architectural Digest).
