We're done with Halloween for this year.

Early this afternoon, I went to the grocery store and got what candy I could from what was still around for sale. I then set up the strand of orange lights above the front door's arch along with a lone skeleton, put a bench with candy bowls in the hall and waited for the kids to show up. They did, pretty regularly, along with winged dogs in some cases, while we were watching "The Tingler". At 8:30 though, we got a group of about 20 kids, then nothing. Which is good, because we had almost completely run out of goodies. I turned the lights off at 9pm, put them away in the garage and that was it for this year.

Note to myself... The Kit-Kat bars were very much in demand. In fact, one of them, upon getting hers, exclaimed:

"I'm coming back to this house next year!"

and we gave candy generously around because I bought two bags of tootsie candy assortments.

I'm kind of tender about Samhain memories. My beloved Badb Catha is going to be a hole in my heart until we find another loving soul kitty that wants hugs and kisses and cuddling. Not as a replacement but a new relationship.

The first year we did this after moving here, we'd bought lots of candy, but almost nobody came (although it was more than 3 kids). We figured that Halloween wasn't a big thing in this neighborhood so we got very little candy the next year. Of course, lots of kids came that time. We decided never to make that mistake again.

Best wishes for another cuddly kitty. Rocky isn't a lap cat, but there's Agatha, here. Mind you, she chooses when it's cuddles time.
