Last night, I finished Connie Willis's 1999 story collection "Miracle and Other Christmas Stories". What did I think? Well, in 2 weeks, Willis, straight from Denver, will be coming to Albuquerque's SF club, and you can expect that I'll ask her where I can find her other tales.

Er, if your library is like mine, it will have most of them or be able to get them through interlibrary loan. I don't think I own one of her books, yet I've read at least 2/3 of them.

Her books are easy to find. Writers like to hear that, more than "Where can I get your books?" I was thinking specifically of her Christmas tales. Maybe the later ones were put in a collection too, but I was under the (hopefully mistaken) impression that "Miracle" is the only such book.

I generally don't much care for short stories--except the ones by Connie Willis.

I find myself reading more and more short stories myself. I certainly have lots of them on my Nook and on my bookshelves. It's nice sometimes to read something short. But there are many novels awaiting my peepers on my bookshelves, and there'd be even more of them if not that so many of them now come out in hardcover, and I don't really like hardcovers. I'm a paperback person myself.

Her latest Christmas story for Asimov's, "All seated on the ground", is still available online.

The Winds of marble Arch is a massive collection but is sold out & 2nd hand copies are pricey.
