I finished reading Connie Willis's "Blackout" last night. Tonight I'm moving right on to "All Clear", the story's 2nd Part.

This brings up a question I have about the Hugos.

Since they are really one big novel split into two books, not a duology, and since they were both published in 2010, does one nominate the combined books as one, or separately?

Since they are really one book split into two (and that is also Connie Willis' position on it), and since they are both published in the same year, there is no reason why it cannot be nominated as one work.

IIRC, Jonathan Strahan made a comment that it was up to nominators to make it clear that that was their nominating intent.

Me, I haven't read it/them; "Blackout" is in my to-read awaiting the arrival of "All Clear". And already I am having trouble deciding which (out ot many) books to nominate.

What a terrible position to be in.
:-)

I guess I'll go for the one-novel-in-2-parts vote. That's how Willis sees her story. And it frees up one slot for another nominee.
