death and taxes

As they say, death and taxes are unavoidable.

Yesterday, I found from our tax consultant how much we still owe Uncle Sam for 2006. It's not too bad. All we're waiting for now is for the money my wife's publisher owes her now that she's signed their contract. Then we can pay Sam his due.

As for death... My diet since yesterday morning has consisted only of liquids. Extremely boring. I'm looking forward to scarfing up a box of saltine crackers tonight. First though, I have to have that colonoscopy this afternoon to reassure my wife that this over-50 gent isn't about to run out of life.
