Today I go the following message from my soon-to-be-former team lead:

"Just now I suggested (insert boss's name) that you have to be made an official lead so that folks pay attention to your emails."

Um, thanks?

I think so, but the whole sentence is crammed full of irony. Where to begin? First, that they'd have to make me a sort-of manager for people to stop ignoring me? And - this is the rich part - my team lead'd said to me a couple of weeks ago that I had had the chance to seize leadership last year. Now he notices I can't even get people to pay attention to my emails.

Well, we'll see what the boss does - if he does anything.

I mean, I did thank him, and I'm grateful, but the whole situation has been bizarre.

My tone while saying thanks might have been snippy with hints of sarcasm.

I figured that was what you said, but, being who I am, I also considered another interpretation. (There's a reason why I'm lousy at guessing out mystery novels.)

Having been an official lead, basically it means they have to officially ignore your e-mails, rather than doing so informally.

Not if I follow this style of leading they won't...
