It'd appear that, even though it's nearly been 4 decades since I was in high school, the sight of a bunch of young men together, on a bus or elsewhere, still raises my hackles.

Yeah... SF and comics have been accepted by the mainstream so one isn't likely to be picked on anymore because of one's interest in those. And one of us is now President of the USA. Still... Taking public transportation on a line that has a few schools along it, I've observed among the younger passengers signs of the old behavior towards the nerd and the misfit of their own age group.
