It was neat, watching our DVD of "1776" on our BluRay player yesterday. The picture was quite crisp. I then test-ran excerpts from a few other DVDs, and decided that our DVD set of "Lord of The Rings" was extremely good, and didn't really require its replacement by the newly released BluRay. That conclusion would appear to be borne by a couple of BluRays we bought: the difference in quality with their DVD counterparts wasn't that noticeable. Then again, those were relatively recent titles, and local fan Scott Phillips has said something to the effect that one is more likely to find the conversion worthwhile for older titles. That's why I put the BluRay of "Forbidden Planet" on our NetFlix queue.

By the way, I've found that my laptop won't play BluRays, which I guess makes sense. I'll have to look into a change of hardware.
