the first 226, the last 226

We made it back to New Mexico last night, without any incident, even one of the biologically-dangerous-sandwich kind. The worst part were the first 226 miles of the trip, which is the distance between my in-laws's home in the East Bay and the point where we got off the Central Valley's I-5 to drive due East. Why? As happens every time on those voyages, I remembered all too well how I was feeling one week before as those were the last 226 miles of the trip that was bringing us closer and closer to where my heart lies. Oh well.
