I just finished “The Sleeping Partner”, Madeleine Robins’s 3rd Sarah Tolerance mystery, published by Plus One Press. Miss Tolerance, who avoided the fate usually reserved for Fallen Women of the Regency by becoming a Person of Inquiry, is back in action, in a case that very much reminds her of her own past: a noble family’s young daughter has disappeared, possibly eloping, and, while her father forbids any action to find the girl who has soiled the family’s honor, his other children will not let matters rest and hire Sarah. Wonderful story and near the end some people find that the mistakes of the Past can be fixed and a dear friend of Sarah's, among others, reminds her that she's not alone.

"Your honor has always been one of your most striking characteristics, but perhaps you are less concerned with my feelings than your own."
"My own?"
"You do not wish to be guilty of hurting me."
