I spent much of yesterday, rebuilding the contents of my laptop's brain. Basically, having a laptop fall off a coffee table isn't good for its hard-drive and mine had to be replaced. Local outfit Sandia Computers had been able to salvage most of my data, but not my email, which means that they could only rebuild the latter from my last backup and don't ask me how long ago I had taken it or how many of my friends's messages I lost because of it. Besides that... Some of my Nook's stories also got lost, so I copied them from the Nook back to my laptop's archives. I also had to reload a bunch of softwares and various printer drivers. I'm done at last, and my resolutions for 2012 include FREQUENT backups and never again will I put my laptop where there's a remote chance of my tripping over its power cord.
