fictional girls in the real world
Jan. 10th, 2012 08:29 amI had a good time last night at Albuquerque's Page One. Greg Bear was in town to promote his "Halo" novels, and talked about all kinds of things, reminding us that, if you think you've come up with an original idea, Jack Williamson had probably thought of it first in the 1930s. My many thanks to Craig Chrissinger for arranging the event. By the way, in the audience could be found Kat & Daniel Abraham's daughter who, if she wore glasses, would look like Agatha Heterodyne in her early days. Goodness knows the young lady is as smart as her fictional counterpart. Also present was a one-year-old named River. Yes, because of that River.
After I got home, Sue and I watched Vincent Price in "The Last Man on Earth", the most faithful adaptation of Richard Matheson's "I Am Legend" if I remember correctly from reading it when I was in college.
