doing when not doing

What do people DO when they're not doing anything?

I took the bus this morning, and I found myself wondering. I mean, if they're not reading, or texting, or chatting, or listening to music, or watching a movie, or sleeping, how do they spend their ride?

People-watching? Daydreaming? Planning out their day? Mentally rehearsing arguments with their boss/spouse/parents/childen? Zoning out while staring out the window watching the scenery go by?

There is all that, true. Sometimes, when I haven't planned things out properly and ran out of reading material before the ride's end, I'll play some classical music, or some movie scores in my head.
