not quite Britain's Home Office
Jun. 15th, 2007 12:06 pmAs you well know, I spent many months on the Project from Hell over two years, and it was late, and extremely stressful, but it did get implemented at the end of February. Right off the bat, nobody liked the results because it was so heavy on computer resources even though it got the job done. As soon as it was implemented, they hired a new employee whose first assignment was to try a different approach. And he succeeded in putting something together that's more flexible, easier on resources, and got it implemented last month. Was I offended? No. I was too close to this project, and never had the time to step back and wonder if there was a better approach. Besides, I was plain sick of the whole thing and was quite happy when this became someone else's task. His version and mine have been running concurrently, and mine will be shut down next week. It's kind of silly that I spent so much of my life on something that was used for barely 4 months. So it goes. Oh, can you guess who is in charge of tearing out the original version's code out of programs?
Anyway, this is the entrance to my home office...
And here is my home office itself...
And here's my home office's co-worker...
