the worst time travellers ever

I've been going thru my DVD set of "The Time Tunnel" and I have to conclude that Tony Newman and Doug Phillips have probably been the worst time travellers ever. Sure, they got lucky at times, and even got to meet a young Ellen Burstyn. After a few times of showing up in bad spots, they should have learned that, instead of jumping in and turning into three-fisted scientists, it's better to lie low and wait for 1968's Time Tunnel to get back online and snatch them to a less troublesome spot. But nooooo... Every single time they made their retrieval more difficult and, frankly, would have long been dead if not for the whole affair's real heroes, General Heywood Kirk, Doctor Ray Swain and especially Doctor Ann McGregor, who was the most level-headed person of the bunch.
