Back in late 1985, I was at some friends's bookstore when I came across a science-fiction book that sounded intriguing, but which, for some reason, I didn't buy. If I remember what the back cover said, it was about an alien on the run on Earth who finds refuge in a Catholic Church. I don't remember who the author was, but I think it was published by del Rey. It might have had a pyramid on the cover. I think.

Does any of this sound familiar?

No, but it sounds intriguing. I hope you find out soon.

It's been over 20 years since I first came across it so I suppose I can wait a bit more. Still, I also posted about this on Making Light. Maybe I should have waited until Monday though. Oh well...

I'm sure somebody will know and tell you. I was able to find a story by Robert Bloch after asking about it.

I've been poking around to see if I can find the book...

Is the alien joining up, or using the church as sanctuary?

He's using it as sanctuary. It's been such a long time though since I read this book's back cover that I don't remember if it's set in the present or in the future, or if it's humans who are after him, or other aliens. Sigh. What I do remember doesn't exactly make it easy to search for, does it? Thanks for doing this, but don't spend too much time.
