I was totally croggled a couple of years ago now to discover that this is in fact a hymn.

Cat Stevens (Yusuf Islam?) could really sing a song.

That's about when I found out too about its origins as an hymn.

I first encountered it in a church setting, in fact. Youth choir, I think, although that could be a false memory.
