Yesterday, the contractors in charge of replacing the kitchen's floor with tiles, along with the two bathrooms's, briefly came to seal the grouting then off they went. That marked the end of Phase One of our home improvements for this year. Phase Two will begin on July 23 and will involve other contractors tearing out the carpet in the dining room and in the living room, then putting in a hardwood-like flooring.

After yesterday's home improvement by pros, yours truly decided that enough was enough and he would procrastinate no more. I had received the tailor-made blinds a few days before, but, after all the trouble that the original blinds above the kitchen sink had given me, I was dreading trying again. It was hard work (like being a President), especially since I had to crouch in the sink, but it went went fairly quickly. True, I lost my balance and almost fell to the floor, but I caught myself, which is good because I'd rather not think what a collision with a tile floor would have done to my spine. And this time, I didn't come anywhere near close to poking myself in the eye with a screwdriver. That means no justification for me to wear an eyepatch.

Awrrrr!!!

Speaking of pirates

World's End is a lot better than the reviewers would have you think. Although, yes, the fight scenes needed to be trimmed, but there were many visually stunning moments. I think the problem was they had too many ideas which they wanted to fit into one film. Johnny Depp was awesome as always, but Keith Richards was wasted (in both senses). It's funny how a popcorn movie shows up Keira Knightly and Orlando Bloom's thespian limitations - they do their best, but I just didn't buy Elizabeth Swann's transformation into a pirate queen. It probably would be better to wait for the DVD - it's one of those movies you watch on the sofa with friends making tippani (that's bengali for snark) at all the over-the-top moments.

'Making tippani'? I like that. As for the movie itself, yes, I was planning to wait for the DVD, having been very disappointed with the 2nd one. One film I'm very curious about is Stardust. It's based on a Neil Gaiman novel and it is my understanding that he is quite happy with the adaptation.

How many references to the chalice and the host were made in the process?

None at all, believe it or not. How come? This is part of my campaign to weed such language out of my vocabulary as it only generates bad feelings. Besides, my manager may have given me an excellent yearly review in February, but one of her criticisms was my use of words such as 'darn'. It may sound silly, but, not being a native English speaker, she probably understands exactly what is really meant by words such as this one.

How do you relieve your feelings, then?

How? By reminding myself, in some cases, that it's not worth getting upset. In other cases, I remind myself that the other person is an idiot who shall pay when I become Master of the World. Bwahahahah!!!

That last works! When will you become Master of the World?

You'll find out in due time.

When you do, would you mind making it easier to burn calories when exercising?

Well, if you have something that needs to burn, I do have this convenient heat vision...
