"Arbitrary Passions"

I just finished Mary Anne Mohanraj’s “Arbitrary Passions”. In this memoir, she tells us about her trip to Sri Lanka in 2005. She tells us about being a Tamil who grew up in America since she was two years old, and who first and foremost thought of herself as an American, but who also wonders if that really is all that she is. She tells us about passion, arbitrary and not, for a country and for another human, about love, polyamory and not. She tells us about her hopes at the beginning that the trip might rekindle what she and her travelling companion once shared, and about her fears that she might find an answer to that question. She tells us about finding who she is.
