"STAND BACK! Be silent! Be still!... That's it... and look upon this moment. Savor it! Rejoice with great gladness! Great gladness! Remember it always, for you are joined by it. You are One, under the stars. Remember it well, then... this night, this great victory. So that in the years ahead, you can say, 'I was there that night, with Arthur, the King!' For it is the doom of men that they forget."

I expect that some people will soon forget how relieved they were last night and, before you know it, we'll be back to hearing them say how there is no difference between Democrats and Republicans. "For it is the doom of men that they forget," as Merlin says in Boorman's 'Excalibur'. I for one intend to remember, just like I still remember how I felt in November 2008.

By the way, the other day, I was chatting with one of my cubicle neighbors and she said how apolitical she is. She's a bit older than I am, which means she got into the work force when women were starting not to be limited to secretarial jobs and yet, yesterday, she reminisced about how, in those days, employment applications could get away with asking women - and striclty women - if they were planning to have a family. I'd say that this apolitical person benefitted from the work of those who are political.

Then again, it is also the doom of women to forget.
