recent short tales
Feb. 13th, 2013 07:50 pmShort tales recently read... Besides the usual great stuff by "Beneath Ceaseless Skies"? I especially liked the scene in James S.A. Corey's "Gods of Risk" where Bobbie the big Martian Marine calmly disassembles a small-time crook's gun before his very eyes. On her birthday, Mary Robinette Kowal gave us the gift of "The Lady Astronaut of Mars", about the first woman to go to Mrs in 1952, now an old woman given the chance to reach for the stars. Finally I reread Beth Bernobich's "River of Souls", in which a young man is reunited with the woman he loved in a past life when his soul was a warrior woman.
Good stuff all around.
