the year's middle reviewed
Jul. 23rd, 2013 08:32 pm"Sincere and straightforward."
The boss below my boss gave me my midyear review today. It was pretty good overall, and she said that people like working with me. She also mentionned the above in a positive way, although my sincerity and straightforwardness has gotten me in trouble with people blind to their less-than-adequate competence. But, hey, it was a good session.
Besides that... I called my mom to wish her a happy 79th birthday. After an 11-hour work day (with a break to go get a greasy burger at the nearby Wendy's), I called it quits, took BART to the Rockridge Station, walked to Dark Carnival, where I acquired Catherynne Valente's story collection "The Melancholy of Mechagirl", after which I walked up Berkeley's College Street all the way to Bancroft, from there to Shattuck, and finally to my motel room on University, not far from BART's North Berkeley Station. I logged back in to handle a bit of an issue with our system, exchanged emails with my minion over in India, but that's it for now. I think I'll now go back to reading "Abaddon's Gate". I've already kicked my shoes off. Actually, I took them off and put them in their proper place at the foot of the bed, but, metaphorically, I kicked them off.
