dying too soon

When I turned 58, two weeks ago, I became only 10 years younger than my dad was when a heart attack killed him. This made me realize that he'd died way too soon.

Yeah, as my parents hit that age (my mom is your age within a year or two, my dad a decade older), I gain a new perspective.

A new perspective indeed, and it makes us realize that those people we thought were old outside and inside actually don't think of themselves as old inside any more than we do.
