this or that project

My work days now mostly consist of preparing the official approval requests for the deployment of this or that project, while others work on this or that project. When this or that project is successfully deployed, does anybody thank me for my contribution? Is this kind of task all I'm good at? Should I take the bull by the horns and show the higherups proof that I can do more and better? I did that when we went thru the merger and in the year that followed, and in the end it made not one bit of a difference. I now find myself fading away, falling down to the level of their expectations, and without the energy to fight my way back up, and that scares me.
