creation insufficient?

Not sure I'll watch the next episodes of SyFy's Henson Creature Competition. Why is it that such shows feel the need to inject animosity between some of the contestants? Isn't it enough to watch people working to create?

That's the way I felt about Survivor when it first aired, and I found at that it wasn't going to be about what they found to eat and how they found/made shelter, and so forth, but about stupid, made-up competition crap. I went from vaguely interested to No Way in Hell in short order, with a quick detour through Why Would They Do That, What a Waste of an Interesting Concept.

Considering how many shows do this, one can assume that the public is ok with that, and that the problem is with the likes of you and me.
