writing to a sister

I just sent an email to one of my sisters. It was in response to her snailmail letter where she asked what my email address is and where she gave a few news about herself. It felt strange. For one thing, it's probably the first time we've ever written to each other. Also, what do I say to my family when I have so little in common with them aside from DNA? Still, I do appreciate that she wanted to be able to write to me.
