interesting situation

It's an interesting situation, working for a micromanager who questions almost every decision you make even in areas where you know more, and who at the same time expects you to show initiative.

Gee, it almost sounds as though you're working for my mom. That's a not uncommon managerial tactic.

It does seem to happen a lot. I guess I had enjoyed too much the previous three years where i'd be told what to do, but not how to do it. On the other hand, they didn't appreciate my work and she does, up to a point.
